In 2002, four friends -- Jo Edmunds, Tina Flaherty, Sarah Mitchell, and Noreen Beck -- committed to making a difference in the movement to fight breast cancer began a special venture together. After some serious discussions on how to improve on the original walk the "Just 'Cause Breast Cancer 3-Day" was born. Unlike others, 100% of the money goes to support breast cancer research and integrated therapies. The Virginia Thurston Healing Garden and The Gillette Center for Women's Cancers at Massachusetts General Hospital receive our support.
Breast cancer is the second leading cause of cancer death for all women, and the leading cause of death in women between the ages of 40 and 55. Both its cause and its cure remain undiscovered although progress is being made. Statistics show that 1 in 7 women in the New England area will get breast cancer. We began the Just 'Cause Walk because we want to do something big - something that challenges us. Walking 20 miles a day for 3 days is our challenge (or a shorter distance can be your challenge) and we are hope that you will partner with us in this effort.
On May 29 - 31, 2015, a dedicated group of people will walk in the 13th Just 'Cause Breast Cancer Walk. We can make a difference. We can support those that are or have struggled with breast cancer. We hope that you will join us either as a walker or as a donor.
With tremendous support from family, friends, the community, and our corporate sponsors, the Just Cause Breast Walks will bring us even closer to a cure. Please watch a brief, inspiring interview with our Just 'Cause Walk founders.
